💫 Handmade With Love, Inspired by Kokoms

Kokom Scrunchies was created by Mya, a proud and talented young Indigenous girl from Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation—when she was just 9 years old. In Algonquin, kokom means grandmother, and Mya wanted to honour the strength, wisdom, and beauty passed down through generations of Indigenous women.

Since launching in 2019, Kokom Scrunchies has remained a family-run business, with each scrunchie lovingly handmade in Canada. What started as a simple idea has grown into something truly special—celebrating culture, heritage, and identity one scrunchie at a time.

Many Kokom Scrunchies are named after the strong Indigenous role models who inspire Mya. New designs are regularly released to honour other amazing individuals making a difference in their communities.

Kokom Scrunchies isn’t just about hair accessories—it’s about lifting others up, embracing culture, and showing that even the smallest ideas can lead to big dreams.
