KUME is a Canadian food company founded by sisters Emily and Susan Koo, who set out to make authentic Korean flavours more approachable for everyday cooking. After immigrating from Korea to Kelowna, British Columbia, the sisters grew up surrounded by the rich fermented flavours of Korean cuisine, including staples like gochujang and doenjang.

Inspired by friends who loved their cooking but weren't sure how to use Korean ingredients at home, the sisters created KUME to bridge that gap. Their ready-to-use sauces reimagine traditional Korean fermented flavours in a convenient format that fits seamlessly into a wide variety of dishes, making it easy for home cooks to experiment and get creative.

Named after the Korean word 꾸미 (KUME), meaning "to garnish" or "to elevate," the brand encourages people to add flavour, personality, and creativity to their meals. Combining culinary expertise and thoughtful design, KUME creates products that celebrate Korean heritage while making bold flavours accessible to everyone.
