🌿 Herb-powered, all-natural skincare rooted in traditional plant wisdom.

Matter Company is a Toronto-based natural skincare brand founded in 1996 by Denise Williams, whose background in environmental studies and herbalism shaped the heart of the brand. After apprenticing with a renowned herbalist and earning certification as a Therapeutic Herbalist, Denise began formulating skincare that didn’t yet exist on the market, products designed to truly support skin health using the healing power of plants.

What started in her kitchen as small-batch salves and first-aid ointments quickly gained a following among friends and family. Made with all-natural ingredients like shea butter, plant and herb extracts, and aromatic essential oils, these formulas were intentionally free from parabens, petrolatum, and synthetic additives. Today, Matter Company continues to honour traditional herbal practices, creating gentle, effective skincare that nurtures the body inside and out with simplicity, integrity, and plant-based care.
