Coffee bag labeled 'Ocean Air' with coffee beans and a scoop on a wooden surface

Saltwinds Coffee Co.

☕ A Maritime Roast With a Story in Every Cup

Saltwinds Coffee was born from an old maritime tale—one that claimed coffee used to taste better when it crossed the Atlantic in wooden sailing ships. The ocean air, salt spray, and long voyage supposedly gave it a depth of flavour no modern process could match.

That story stuck with Jonathon, a lifelong coffee lover. When he shared it with his partner Laura, a chemist with a curious mind, she didn’t just smile and nod—she set out to test the theory. After rounds of experimentation and plenty of trial-and-error roasting, they landed on a blend that tasted like it came straight off a tall ship. Turns out, there was some truth to that old tale.

In the summer of 2022, they brought their coffee to life at the Garrison Night Market in Fredericton. Week after week, they sold out. The demand confirmed what they already knew: this wasn’t just good coffee—it was something special.

Now roasting daily in Douglas, New Brunswick, Saltwinds Coffee Co. is focused on crafting unique, responsibly sourced coffees with flavours that echo the fresh air of the East Coast. From fair trade beans and organic practices to their own carbon-reducing roasting technology, every detail is designed with care—for the environment, for the coffee, and for the people drinking it.
