Wheat & Wildflower is a Manitoba-based small business creating thoughtfully designed, handmade children’s clothing that fits for three sizes. Founded in 2020 by Janine—a mom of three with a love of sewing and a background in agriculture and business—this brand blends practicality, creativity, and sustainability into each and every stitch.

After 18 years in the ag industry, Janine was laid off during the pandemic and took a leap of faith. With a sewing machine, a head full of ideas, and support from her rural community, Wheat & Wildflower Handmade was born. What started as a creative outlet quickly blossomed into a thriving small shop—now sold online and at craft markets across the prairies.

Every item is handmade by Janine and her team of home-based sewists using high-quality, natural fabrics sourced almost exclusively from Canadian suppliers. Her signature Grow With Me designs feature extendable cuffs and clever construction, helping kids wear their clothes longer and reducing textile waste.

Janine’s commitment to sustainability shows up in every part of the business—from using plant-based materials to repurposing leftover scraps into headbands, zipper pouches, and pet beds for donation.

Inspired by prairie life, family, and her love of agriculture and nature, Janine continues to grow Wheat & Wildflower from her new on-farm studio. With every piece, she’s building a business that’s rooted in community, comfort, and creativity—designed for the everyday adventures of growing kids.
