Zippy’s Hockey Wax

What started as a simple family project quickly turned into a full-blown business. After watching a few YouTube tutorials, siblings Jayden and Blake Zister decided to make their own hockey wax at home. It worked so well that they started selling it to friends — and from there, Zippy’s Hockey Wax was born.

Launched in 2016, Zippy’s has evolved from small homemade batches in clear-lid tins to professional, fully bilingual packaging with a bold new logo. But one thing hasn’t changed — the quality of the wax. Each tin is made to give players the perfect glide, grip, and control on the ice.

The company name comes from a long family tradition: everyone in the Zister family has gone by “Zip” or “Zippy” for generations — even their license plates say it. It only made sense to carry that legacy into their brand.

Now, with Jayden studying medicine at the University of Waterloo and Blake still in high school, the brother-sister team continues to grow the brand together. What began as a fun side project is now one of Canada’s coolest young family-run hockey businesses — proof that great ideas can come from a little creativity, teamwork, and love for the game.
